QLD Seminar: Good Theory Good Practice (Online)

The Qld CDAA Division is pleased to announce that our annual Good Theory Good Practice professional development day is on Saturday 16th September 9am – 2pm. It will be once again an online event and open to attendees from across Australia and overseas.

This year’s program will focus on employability, lifelong career leaning, community building, and digital careers!

As in previous years, we have put together a high quality program which will appeal to Career Practitioners from all sectors, including those working in private practice, universities, vocational education colleges and secondary schools.

Keynotes:

Title: How to “do” employability: careers and the need to learn a living
Session Info: This keynote will challenge the dominant thinking about employability by positioning it as a process of discovery and learning across the lifespan. The presenter will explore career touchpoints across the lifespan and attempt to bust some of the common myths. A key focus for the session will be strengths-based, social cognitive approaches to working with learners and clients.

Title: Breaking Down the Silos:  the integration of media studies and industry.
Session info: Over decades the academy has provided predominately theoretically based studies in media and media production. The industry has provided much of its own education and training. In recent time these two approaches have become increasingly irrelevant.  Presentation will address how through a contemporary model, these two disconnected spaces have found common ground and relevance for students and industry alike.
