Webinar: Career-Related Learning in Primary Schools

A consistent criticism from the emergent literature on children’s career development has been that career-related learning in primary schools has received limited attention.

A particular gap in the literature is the practical application achieved through a collaborative partnership approach involving career development specialists, teachers and business volunteers.

This webinar examines an innovative collaborative approach based on research undertaken originally in seven of the most deprived Wards in Derby city in England, further extended to include at least 32 inner-city primary schools, followed by a ‘twinning approach’ newly adopted on a wider regional basis. Participants will receive some practical worksheets and resources to inform their ongoing work.

By the end of the webinar participants will have:

  • Gained practical examples of how to successfully embed career-related learning into primary schools
  • Reviewed an evidence-based approach and considered how this can potentially support policy developments, theory, practice and research in Australia
  • Assessed the strengths, limitations and future directions of the approach.
