The Australian Government has signalled urgent action to address the impacts of climate change and create a more environmentally sustainable world.

As we plan toward Net Zero by 2050, we are we are seeing a greater focus on protecting our natural environment and wetlands and a transition to renewable energy sources. In this expert panel webinar we will explore:

  • The current and future jobs required as we transition to a greener future
  • Their personal career pathway, study and career opportunities
  • The major changes, trends and challenges facing our green industries
  • Useful tools, websites and resources to help clients explore green careers

Our Panellists:

Amy Young - Principal and Founder, AimWild (Freelance Environmental Planning 7 Project Management)

Driven by a lifelong passion to protect and repair nature, Amy will share broad experience from fascinating roles in conservation, restoration and management of land and seascapes, from the tropics to Antarctica.

Her diverse background in the sector paved the way for her environmental startup which provides independent environmental planning and project management services to organisations invested in caring for Country and taking action to tackle climate change and biodiversity loss with optimism.

Anna Sidoti - Learning & Development Consultant (Green and STEM Career Coach) at Origin Energy

Anna is in her 4th career- with a career that has spanned pharmaceutical account management, secondary and vocational teaching and leadership in Victoria and NSW, learning and organisational development and career development. Even though she’s been to university a few times herself, trade careers are of special interest, especially the hands-on trades that will support Australia’s transition to renewable energy.

Like lots of other people, she wonders how we can encourage more women into traditionally male dominated STEM careers and sees an opportunity to do this in response to climate change- helping women of all ages understand that a Green and/or STEM career is a very practical way to help a very real problem.

Gill Peacey - Manager (Acting) National Parks and Wildlife Service SA, Department for Environment and Water

Growing up in an active outdoors family in NZ surrounded by national parks, Gill took the natural step of going to university and becoming a Park Ranger, working in several remote locations in New Zealand before a move to NSW then South Australian parks.

After branching out into other public sector roles teaching Aboriginal Land Management with TAFESA, managing Work Health and Safety, and Training and Development programs, Gill has also worked in project management, planning and policy roles, and managing Commonwealth and State grant funding programs. Gill currently manages South Australia’s National Parks and Wildlife Service volunteer programs.
