QLD Seminar: Pathways to Emerging Careers Breakfast Forum

CDAA in collaboration with Sunshine Coast Council would like to invite you to register for the Pathways to Emerging Careers Breakfast Forum.

Hear from leaders in emerging industries on the Sunshine Coast including ICT, sustainability and game design. These speakers will provide great insight into the development of their industries and the jobs and careers available both now and into the future. As the region continues to evolve and expand its diversity of industries, there will be new jobs and skills required by employers. 

As career development professionals and educators, this event will give you the knowledge and connections you need to guide your students on the pathways to emerging careers on the Sunshine Coast and beyond. 

Presenters:

Dr Colleen Stieler-Hunt SFHEA, Lecturer (Game Design), UniSC



Dr Colleen Stieler-Hunt is a game design and development lecturer at the University of the Sunshine Coast. She’s also a multi-award winning educator, game designer, and researcher. Colleen has over 25 years’ experience working in education beginning her career as a secondary school math and ICT teacher.

Jason Garland, Director, Secure Access


Jason Garland is the owner and founder of Secure Access IT, a local business providing B2B technology support for over 23 years. Jason has a Master of Cyber Security, is an ACS Certified Professional and Microsoft Certified Engineer and leads a team of 13 IT and business professionals who support local and international businesses from their office in Maroochydore.

Sandie Johnston & Alix Baltais, EnviroCom Australia


Sandie is a communicator, educator and storyteller. In 2004, Sandie made a career change from teacher to Environmental Consultant, combining her two passions. Sandie is now the Area Manager for EnviroCom on the Sunshine Coast, where she mentors, inspires and challenges the community’s perception of sustainability, particularly the waste and resource recovery industry.

Alix is Area Manager in the EnviroCom Brisbane Office. She started as a graduate in 2014 after undertaking study in Environmental Management and Conservation Biology. Alix is a waste and resource recovery industry advocate, a passionate science communicator and takes pride in mentoring and developing graduates and consultants across EnviroCom.

Andrew Eves-Brown, Head of Economic Development, Sunshine Coast Council


Andrew Eves-Brown is the Head of Economic Development at Sunshine Coast Council following a 20-year career in systems engineering. He was COO at Gourmet Garden, helping to scale the business from $20 million to $100 million. Andrew was also CEO at COYO, growing the business production from seven tonnes to 50 tonnes per week.
