Discussion will focus on the importance of contextualising career theory to practice as well as the changing world of work, lifelong learning, career decision-making and development, and career guidance to the broader community.
This webinar will be facilitated by Dr Jennifer Luke who will provide a quick overview of a selection of theories with a focus on career development across the lifespan.
Dr Deborah Munro will then present and lead discussion on the use of Margaret Archer’s Critical Realist Theory of Reflexivity in career counselling, including practical tools for practice.
Deborah is a lecturer at the Queensland University of Technology, teaching post-graduate and undergraduate classes in career education and trauma informed practice.
Her present research considers the ways in which persistent gender inequalities limit women’s choices with regard to furthering their education, which in turn hinders women’s career opportunities and economic advancement.
Jennifer is a Careers & Employability Researcher at the University of Southern Queensland, Australia, and the current CDAA Queensland Division.
With past experience in the training and employment sectors, Jennifer has since worked within universities as a Careers Educator and presented at numerous Australian and overseas conferences on the topics of age diversity, lifelong career development, meaningful work, and the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
